Forest Heights Youth Leadership Committee Needs YOUth!
Make a difference AND earn Service Learning credit!
Purpose: To represent the resident youth in the community by providing leadership and creating opportunities for fellow youth to be involved (be it through events, volunteerism, governance participation and communication).
General Functions: This committee will be unique in that it’s primary purpose is to work with all other committees, yet has autonomy to function as an equal to the other committees.
- Coordinate and implement youth activities with CEC (ie: Trail scavenger hunts, craft days, kid concert in the park, Easter Egg Hunt, Youth games at larger events, etc.)
- Spearhead volunteer outreach opportunities for fellow youth (ie: Green Team/SOLVE events with G2 Committee, coordinating a food/clothing drive, etc.)
- Provide input and recommendations on issues affecting the local youth (ie: SST regarding security & transportation issues, G2 for environmental concerns, Parks & Rec for park improvement opportunities, etc.)
- Assist in communicating with the local youth (ie: Participate in Instagram promotions, write quarterly articles of interest, create flyers to attract and improve participation of youth, etc.)
Members aged: 13-18
Group elects a chairperson to be recommended to Board of Directors
Secretary is elected to scribe minutes
All other roles same as a standard committee
